- Information about a property’s energy use and typical energy costs based on what is referred to as standard occupancy
- Recommendations about how to reduce energy use and save money
An EPC gives a property an energy efficiency rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and it is valid for 10 years. Before requesting an EPC you can check the EPC register to find out whether an EPC already exist for your home.
You will also require an EPC before you have a solar PV system installed so that you receive the Feed in Tariff (FiT) at the standard rate. The EPC will need to show that your home achieves an energy rating of Band D or better at the time of your application for the FiT. Further information on subject can be obtained from the Energy Saving Trust. If your home does not already achieve a band D rating or better we can advise on the most cost effective ways of improving its energy performance so that it does achieve this.
