There are a number of Government incentives to encourage householders to generate renewable energy and to make their homes more energy efficient.   Householders can now be paid for generating renewable electricity from technologies like solar PV through the Feed in Tariff. In addition householders can receive payment through the Renewable Heat Incentive for producing renewable heat from technologies such as wood pellet boilers.

To encourage householders to make their homes more energy efficient the Government has set up a loan scheme – the Green Deal and the Energy Company Obligation which for people on low incomes means that certain energy improvements can be carried out at no cost to them.

There are also local grant schemes – the first for all Milton Keynes residents is the boiler cash back scheme and the other, for residents of Wolverton is the insulation grant programme.
